“The origination point for not just asking, “Where are the bodies Garth?” but a whole slew of trolling remarks comes from comedian Tom Segura, and his wife and fellow comedian Christina P., short for Pazsitzky.”

    What a couple of losers.

I will shut down the site before implementing a paywall. The point of Saving Country Music is to spread the word about good country music, and you can’t do that if you demand people pay before they read. I can’t tell you how many people accidentally found Saving Country Music, or accidentally became daily readers because they were searching for something and ended up here. That’s the whole point of the website. But go to Billboard, Rolling Stone, and other major music sites. Most all of them are paywalled now. They also don’t have comments sections anymore. And the sites that are free are so riddled with ads, it’s difficult to impossible to read. I don’t mind dealing with less revenue to keep SCM more open and available. But I do ask for a level of understanding from readers just how uncommon all of this stuff is. I don’t even sell merch because I don’t want any less dollars going to artists and bands.

Segura flies to his gigs on chartered PJs, is one of the most successful contemporary comedians, and is one of the hardest tickets to come by on the scene.

Once you’ve been uber rich and famous for 30 years, many celebs lose the ability to communicate with normal people beyond the veneer. It happened to Garth long ago. He’s not the only one. He’s just one of the easiest to lampoon. For a professional comedian, it’s shooting fish in a barrel.

Is it a mean, undeserved laugh at Garth’s expense? Sure. It’s also hilarious, which is why it stuck.

Segura is fantastic, one of the best comics working today. Certainly not everyone’s cup of tea, especially the easily offended (who I think he goes out of the way to offend). He’s not as brutal as Jeselnik, but definitely pretty raw.

On latest sober October recap on Rogan this gets brought up more and Tom says someone close in Brook’s camp told him that he’s aware of the running meme. Tom asked if Brooks hated him over it and was told “Garth doesn’t hate anyone” which is exactly what a serial killer would say. The families need closure

Tom’s theory on why Garth thought he could do the Chris Gaines stuff seems very plausible. I’m paraphrasing but he basically said since Garth has been pretending to be a rodeo cowboy that plays country music of course he thought he could just become a new character and expect people to love it the same way. He failed to grasp that people didn’t know he was merely playing a character the whole time.

Am I the only one who kinda liked Chris Gaines? I didn’t hear the whole album but I had the single of “It Don’t Matter to the Sun” and “Lost in You”. The first one was pretty much a Garth Brooks song. The second was more pop than I usually like but it wasn’t bad. I also don’t see why people were so confused…it was a soundtrack to a movie that got canceled. What’s so hard for people to understand? I understand it not being your favorite record but the idea that it was some career killer is something that I don’t understand.

There was a book I read by patsy bale cox called “the garth factor” that showed it was sent out before Garth’s name was attached to it. It had some really good reviews actually. Trisha still says that it’s her favorite of his.

Maybe to him at the time it was a dud. Two million albums is a career to anybody else though.

The whole album, musically, to me, despite it not being country whatsoever shows off his range and craziness more than anything he’s done.

My favorite songs are the ones that weren’t released — “Main Street” which sounded like a prime Wallflowers number. “Driftin’ Away” was a straight Babyface type R&B jam. And “Maybe” was later covered by Alison Krauss.

I have been a fan of Gareth’s since I saw him in concert. It was a superb concert by a great singer, songwriter and showman. He has always seemed genuine and those that have worked for and with Him always seem to have good things to say about him. No bodies. There will always be those that seek to make ‘fun’ at others expense.

      Brett Dale:

I am, and Garth most likely is, too. Instant recall of concert cities and dates is a good marker. Luke Combs rings the same bells for me, too. Seems obsessive about many aspects of his music and life, and the way he delivered his acceptance speech for Entertainer fits the mold too. That said, nearly everyone’s on the spectrum to some degree or another. It’s probably time to stop referring to the condition with negative terms like “disorder” when it actually makes many people living with it more interesting!

My uncle also disappeared on March 23, 2019 after a show in Glendale, Az… Someone had come up to him near the bathrooms and said “hey tiger, if ya wanna meet ol’ G after the show meet in the south west corner of the venue at the end and when someone approaches you say “I like that” but sir, do please come alone. ”

He was so excited, he couldn’t stop talking about it during the show. I swear Garth even winked at him during a performance but I can’t be sure. Garth Brooks is a sick, sadistic serial murderer who ruined my family.

Well, in the wider world, there’s a long-running meme (if that’s what it’s called) that Hillary Clinton serially murderers her political opponents–recently alluded to or pushed by Republican Arizona Gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake and a joke meme that Senator Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer. It’s become so ubiquitous that Cruz himself recently put out some video short alluding to it.

I remember when Garth started out, he looked kind of bug-eyed in some early videos, which even then was the basis of speculation by some that he’s nuts.

My wife was an extra in a Garth Brooks music video in 2007. It was filmed in a small club in Nashville, and the extras didn’t know who the artist was till they showed up, to keep it under wraps. Anyway, during a break early on, he came up to her and some extras and asked their names.

Then, several hours later as they were wrapping up, he walked by her and thanked her–by name.

I can’t remember a person’s name 5 seconds after being introduced. Garth is an oddball for sure, but he’s a genuine one!

I used the anecdote from Sunny Sweeney about him remembering every show he’s ever played as an example, but there are other stories out there of how he remembers the name of every DJ, every journalist, all the side players, security guards, etc. that he’s met in his career. I think that Garth Brooks is some kind of savant. And like many savants, they have difficultly relating to the world in regards to social norms. Is he completely phony or entirely sincere? I have absolutely no clue. But I think he’s a unique human that defies categorization, despite otherwise being a walking dad joke.

I’ve never been a big fan of Garth. He’s always been ok. Somewhere in the mid level of 90s country artists. Sure, he’s got some great songs. He also has some that aren’t so great and I’ve always felt he was hyped up to be bigger than he was. This is really interesting. I don’t think he’s a bad guy. Very out of touch and awkward yes. I’m betting he’s authentic in his own head at least. That whole thing sounds like a really funny joke, but if people are trolling that hard over it and in person even maybe it’s gone a little bit to far. It does sound like he’s really into what he does and makes a big effort with his fans. If Sunny Sweeney says that’s how he really is then I believe it.

Of course the bodies are all in one place under Garth’s house. Even though he travels the globe, his airplane is clearly big enough for frozen corpse storage underneath.

I bet I could beat Garth in a foot race, so I’m not worried about getting clapped.

It was mid October 1998 on the last leg of Garths world tour. My sister was was so excited to see him as he was her favorite artist. She flew all the way to Minneapolis and checked into a hotel. After attending the concert with her friends and then waiting to go backstage with Garth, her friends said they left the venue. The hotel said she never came back that night. Please Garth. I just want closure. Tell me where my sister’s body is.

but Garth, where are the bodies? every day families across the country cry out for closure, it’s not very high and tight of you to keep them hidden.

little Anna from Kansas City didn’t deserve it, and her family has been torn apart by her disappearance. Her mom, Claire, once a Miss Kansas contestant, is now both fat and retarded.

Anna’s dad, Jeff, is now dead.

It’s unrelated, but it feels relevant. After all, Jeff was a big Garth Brooks fan before all this happened.

some say Jeff let it happen, and then couldn’t live with the guilt. So, he smoked some meth and died after 4 strokes.

Jeans have been the highest of the tightest since elementary. Never wanted any wreck. Said she was gonna join G on his plane for a banana split n stuff like that.. but his stomach got to bubblin mid-trip. Id say due to all the benadryl and poutine. That was the last we heard from her.. proly around ohhhhh 6:30 or so. The flight attendants were too angry to give us any information so we dont know for sure where they went after they landed. She left behind a son, a whole white baby bruh. He is growing up so fast.. always gettin into slick stuff, neat stuff. We just want her back. Some guy that she met at the gym called and says he has some ceiling fans he wants to install for her as a welcome home gift. We miss her lots.. forreals doe. Please Garth. Not a Garth fan, obviously a very talented and successful artist. It just comes across so phoney, kind of like the William Shatner of country music. It very well may be completely genuine but it sure feels weird. When I saw “Your Mom’s House” video showing him being creepy it confirmed I wasn’t the only one. I laughed so hard I nearly wet my pants. However, I think the non-stop badgering of Garth about where the bodies are hidden are a bit over the top.

My sister was an extra in a Garth Brooks music video in 2006. It was filmed in a small club in Orlando, and the extras didn’t know who the artist was till they showed up, to keep it under wraps. Anyway, during a break early on, he came up to her and some extras and asked their names.

Then, several hours later as they were wrapping up, he walked by her and murdered her in cold blood.

No one said a thing as her body laid there, Garth dragged it off himself and we haven’t seen her body since.

My buddy’s dad does security for various events and arenas. Good size company they have a bunch of contracts but still family owned. The dad is at every big event he can be and helps to run it. Was talking to the dad and he told me the nicest celebrity he ever met was Garth. So much so that Garth ask that the dad and his security team work with him at multiple shows around the country (generally they are southeastern region of the US only) and would fly them to his shows. My buddy’s dad had back surgery and was out of work for a while. Garth called him, sent him a gift package and has had him out to his house a handful of times completely unrelated to work. Seems like his every man thing is pretty genuine. How he manages that with his level of fame I’ll never know but kudos to him for somehow staying grounded

      Yep.

And you hear these kinds of stories all the time surrounding Garth.

I’ve written numerous stories being critical of things Garth has done. I most certainly identify how his personality comes across as insincere to some, if not many. But there’s something going on beneath the surface that I’m not sure any of us understand with this guy. Act or not, he very actively works to be a better person than most of us do, and it can’t go unrecognized.

I remember very well, in the ’90s, as early as the “No Fences” album, that it was “cool,” in certain circles, to either not care much for Garth and his music, or to actually be actively hostile towards them. I never went full-on with the scorn, but I do admit, for a time during the early ’90s, that I fell, somewhat, for the “hardcore country purist” Party line which seemed to hold that Garth was sullying country music by making it “more commercial,: “too pop,” “watered-down,” etc. I don’t begrudge people not liking his persona or his music, because we all have the right to our opinions, but for myself, now, I look back on my wary-to-skeptical view of Garth in the ’90s, and honestly, I think I was an idiot.

Garth has never, ever, claimed to be some kind of ultra-traditional, country music purist type of artist, and it was silly, if not ridiculous, for me to ever judge him by that kind of standard. The “No Fences” album title, itself, was a tip-off that not only he was *not* going to defined by others’ potentially rigid ideas of what his music should sould like, but that he, himself took a view of his music that was very open to different styles/genres and decidedly *non-rigid*.

I’m not necessarily a fan of each and every song that the man has recorded, but overall, I have a lot of respect for him. Really, much of his music, from the ’90s and on, sounds so much better, and much more “country,” to me now, than much of what I hear when I am unfortunate enough to come across the auto-tuned bro-country dreck that is played on so many country radio stations today.

On his persona, I’m not sure if it really is a “persona,” as such. In interviews that I’ve seen, from his early days and later, he has always been up-front about having been a KISS fan, as a young man, who then became a country music fan and, in his performing career, decided to take some of the theatrics of big rock shows to the country music stage. I get that this rubs some people the wrong way, but it doesn’t bother me. People have a great time at his shows, partially because *he* visibly seems to be having a great time with his band and with the audience. Personally, I don’t think that he is putting anyone on there, period.

Sometimes I wonder, is there something that certain people just have to find “un-cool,” or even suspect, about men, especially, who are, by turns, earnest, optimistic, a bit goofy, and simply unashamed of all three of those attributes? I think back to male friends of mine in college who had more macho personalities than I did, and who, at times, seemed to take my *lack* of machismo, and my not *particularly caring* about that lack in my personality, as a sort of embarrassment, or even a personal affront, to them. Maybe Garth is just so at ease with who he is, earnest, goofy, or not, that it’s hard for some people to believe that it’s *not* an act?

Either way, I like what I’ve seen of the guy, and I enjoy a good bit of his music. 30 years ago, I was ridiculously concerned about whether or not it was “cool” to be a Garth Brooks fan among hardcore country purists, and as silly as it seems now, I actually allowed that concern to keep me from giving a lot of his music a fair listen. Now, I could not care less about whether it’s “cool” or not, and I am very happily a fan.

I’m sorry but the whole Tom trolling Garth thing is hilarious. The fact that Garth is completely oblivious to it all makes it better. I’m guessing Garth cares zero about how anyone trolls him. Garth is so far removed from what reality actually is.

What Trig didn’t include about the Todd Snider story is that Garth actually cut Todd a check for $10k over the whole Alight Guy/Chris Gaines fiasco. $10K for just the thought of using his song. Are you kidding me? This is an incredible gesture by the biggest country music star in history to a virtually unknown folk singer.

Even though Garth is insufferable, he is incredibly genuine and kind.
