PrimeLash Mascara vs. Thrive Causemetics Mascara: Which One is Right For You? (2024)

When I first wanted to experiment with makeup, my mom only let me use one product: mascara. Since then, I’ve tried pretty much every brand out there. I’ve bought countless tubes of drugstore and luxury brands that promised volume, length, no clumps, and curling. But time and time again, I’ve found myself asking for recommendations at the beauty counter because I was still not impressed.

But this time, I might have found the one after months of testing PrimeLash Mascara and Thrive Causemetics Mascara. Read on to see which one now has a permanent spot in my makeup bag.

The Contenders

The first contender in this trial is PrimeLash Mascara which boasts being the perfect wand and formula duo for older women and anyone with lashes. Meanwhile, Thrive Causemetics Mascara claims to create the effect of false lashes with just one swipe. Here’s how I judged both products.

Round 1: Lash health

After years of trying a multitude of mascaras, I noticed a lot of them left my eyelashes looking frail and tiny. On top of that, a few lashes would easily come off even when I used even the most gentle makeup remover. So when trying PrimeLash and Thrive Causemetics, I needed a formula that would make my existing lashes look amazing while being nourishing enough to boost growth.

And while both products claim they’re made to help lashes grow, for me, PrimeLash was the winner. With its premium ingredients, I could see my current lashes elongating and thickening while helping new ones grow. It's made specifically for mature lashes to remain lush and full.

Winner: PrimeLash

Round 2: The perfect wand

Not only does the formula make a huge difference when I’m choosing a mascara, but the wand can either make or break the look. I needed a wand that was easy to maneuver and that would coat every single little lash without smudging or clumping — and that was PrimeLash.

Its uniquely-shaped wand is designed to make sure it adds color to even the smallest and thinnest of eyelashes on both my top and bottom eyelids. And despite Thrive Causemetics having a similarly-tapered wand, PrimeLash’s wand and bristles were longer and fully coated my lashes from root to tip.

Winner: PrimeLash

Round 3: Affordable clean beauty

When shopping for any cosmetics, I always opt for clean beauty that is vegan, cruelty-free and free of fragrances — and both PrimeLash and Thrive Causemetics fit the bill. Both brands list their ingredients on their respective websites so I know exactly what I’m applying to my eyes. On top of that, they are both similarly priced. Thrive Causemetics costs $25 whereas PrimeLash is $3 more expensive. However, I could justify the price tag if it meant using a product I was head over heels for. Winner: It’s a tie

Round 4: Length and volume

Despite wanting a mascara that offered premium ingredients, great quality, and affordability, I also just wanted longer and more voluminous lashes. Thrive Causemetics claimed it would give me the look of fake eyelashes with none of the hassle, but I found that it was PrimeLash that ultimately provided better results.

My lashes with Thrive just looked darker, perfect for a no-makeup-makeup look. But, with PrimeLash, they actually looked twice as long and so voluminous. Plus, they were clump-free, no matter how many coats I applied, and fanned out beautifully.

Winner: PrimeLash

The Ultimate Winner… PrimeLash

After months of putting PrimeLash and Thrive Causemetics to the test, I came to the conclusion that PrimeLash was the right choice for me. Not only is it affordably priced, but it nourished my lashes to actually become stronger over time. I could actually see tiny lashes sprouting from my lids!

On top of that, it gave me the most luscious-looking lashes without clumping, drying, or fall-out — all while being clean. So if you have similar mascara needs as me, PrimeLash won’t disappoint.
